With its modular design and ability to upgrade and reuse MSL LTO upgrade drive kits, you can cost-effectively store up to 28.8 PB of data1. The MSL3040 offers exceptional enterprise features and functionality. It delivers a tape storage solution that addresses long-term data management challenges, while also providing an air-gapped solution against the threat of ransomware.
This HPE Storage MSL 3040 Tape Library includes one LTO-9 SAS Drive and 20 LTO-9 (45 TB) data cartridges along with cartridge labels. Out of the box this library can back up 900 TB of compressed data with a total capacity of 12.6 PB when fully configured.

Add between 1 and 48, LTO-9, LTO-8, or LTO-7 half-height SAS or Fibre Channel (FC) Ultrium drives for blazing performance. Drives and expansions are easily installed and configured through fast and non-disruptive upgrades.

Cost Effective Tape Storage Solution
HPE StoreEver MSL3040 Tape Library offers 13 cartridge slots or 600 TB [3] of capacity per 1U of rack space, scaling from 40 to 640 slots with a single expandable library; there is no need to replace it as your requirements grow.
For investment protection, you can reuse LTO-9, LTO-8, or LTO-7 drives from an HPE MSL 1/8 autoloader, MSL2024, or MSL6480 in the HPE StoreEver MSL3040 Tape Library. There are no additional license fees for installing new drives in an existing library.
Partitioning allows each partitioned library to be presented to the host as an independent library, separate from other partitions in the library.
