Protect infrastructure with automatic protection, continuously verified trust, and post-quantum security innovation built into HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO). Help reduce risk across the server lifecycle while strengthening resilience against evolving threats.
Across generations of HPE ProLiant servers and HPE iLO, HPE protects the modern data environment with hardware-rooted security designed for evolving threats. With HPE iLO Silicon Root of Trust, organizations can maintain high levels of integrity, strengthen protection for sensitive data, and improve resilience against future cryptographic threats, while simplifying secure remote management for modern and AI-driven workloads.
Simplify workflows and improve server operations with dashboards, search, quick-glance features, and real-time actionable insights.
Simplify server setup and operations with embedded technology that supports hardened security features, system health monitoring, power control, and thermal control.
Protect infrastructure, workloads, and data with built-in security designed to safeguard every phase of the server lifecycle, from manufacturing to end of life.
HPE iLO 8 is the next generation of HPE's embedded server management and security platform, built for HPE ProLiant Compute Gen13 servers. It combines advanced security, enhanced observability, predictive operations, and automated management to improve resiliency and speed up troubleshooting.
Each HPE ProLiant generation carries its own iLO ASIC, and each iLO generation advances server security.
HPE has simplified iLO licensing: every feature is either standard or enabled with an iLO Advanced license.
Ships with every HPE ProLiant server at no extra cost, with no installation and minimal setup.
One license that unlocks all of iLO's licensed features, supported on all HPE ProLiant servers.
Physical iLO Advanced licenses can be factory installed with the #0D1 option at no extra cost when ordered with your server. Tell us how many servers you are licensing and we will quote the right license type and support term.

AKA tracking licenses require an activation key agreement with HPE. Electronic licenses cannot be factory installed; order the physical license with the #0D1 option for factory installation. HPE recommends changing a common default password immediately after onboarding.
HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) is an embedded, out-of-band server management technology built into HPE ProLiant servers. It operates independently of the operating system, allowing administrators to remotely monitor, manage, and troubleshoot servers even when the OS is unavailable, through a dedicated management processor and network interface.
HPE ProLiant Gen13 servers ship with HPE iLO 8, the newest generation of iLO. Gen12 servers use iLO 7, Gen11 servers use iLO 6, Gen10 and Gen10 Plus servers use iLO 5, and Gen9 and Gen8 servers use iLO 4.
On HPE ProLiant Gen13 servers, HPE iLO 8 standardizes on self-encrypting drives through Auto-SED, adds multi-person authorization for high-impact administrative actions, extends post-quantum cryptography protection to live communications between iLO, firmware, and management systems, and expands component attestation across the server lifecycle.
HPE iLO includes remote server access, virtual media support, power and thermal management, and detailed hardware health monitoring. Administrators can view system logs, access the server console, and perform firmware-level tasks without being physically present. Advanced features, available through licensing, extend functionality with enhanced remote consoles and large-scale server management.
HPE iLO incorporates hardware-rooted security designed to protect server firmware and management access, including an immutable silicon root of trust, secure boot validation, runtime firmware verification, and support for industry security standards such as TLS and FIPS-validated cryptography.
HPE iLO is integrated with the HPE server ecosystem, including ProLiant servers, Smart Array storage controllers, and HPE management tools such as HPE Compute Ops Management and HPE OneView, for centralized visibility and lifecycle management.
No. HPE iLO is a proprietary technology designed specifically for HPE servers and is embedded directly in the server system board, so it is not supported on non-HPE hardware.
Yes. iLO Standard capabilities, including server setup, health monitoring, and power and thermal control, are included with the server at no extra cost and need no license.
No. An iLO Advanced license gives the right to use the licensed features for the life of the server it is applied to. The 1-year or 3-year term covers support and updates for the licensed features. A license cannot be transferred to another server.
Tell us about your servers and a ServerComputeWorks specialist will help you choose the right iLO licenses and HPE ProLiant configuration.
